How To Choose The Right TV Unit

WHETHER YOU STREAM NETFLIX EVERY NIGHT OR YOU'RE LOOKING A STATEMENT PIECE FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT AREA, YOU’RE GOING TO NEED A TV UNIT.

And there are heaps of options to choose from: large or small, painted or stained, glass or solid doors, for tight corners or vast expanses of wall—the selection is enormous! Read on to discover some of our best tips and tricks for making sure you buy the perfect TV unit for you and your family.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: IT’S TIME TO GET OUT THE MEASURING TAPE.

After considering the layout of your room, decide where you want your new TV unit to go and carefully measure the space available. These measurements indicate the maximum possible dimensions of your TV unit, though we would advise that you leave yourself a couple of centimetres to allow for human error!

Next, you’ll need to measure your TV. Note down somewhere your TV’s height, width and depth. When choosing a TV unit, look for something which as the width of your TV + 10cm at minimum. Otherwise, it'll just look strange.

IT’S ALSO IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER HOW YOU AND YOUR FAMILY USE THE TV AND THE AREA AROUND IT.

For example, if the kids use it to play video games—especially those like VR which require a lot of physical movement—a small TV unit with a reasonably slim profile could be an excellent choice. On the other hand, if you and your loved ones will only be sitting and watching from the sofa (and you could use some extra storage space), go for a larger TV unit with plenty of shelves and cabinets.

Following these simple guidelines, you can shop with confidence, armed with all the information you need to select the perfect TV unit for your home.
