4 Tips To Dine In Style This Christmas

IT’S OFFICIALLY OCTOBER AND THE PERFECT TIME OF YEAR TO START FREAKING OUT ABOUT CHRISTMAS.

That’s right, I used the “C” word. There’s no denying it any longer, folks! If you plan on kicking back and relaxing over the holiday season, it is absolutely crucial that you get organised now, especially if Christmas is being hosted at your house this year.

Don’t know where to start? Why, the dining room, of course! Here are my four favourite ideas for updating your dining setting just in time for Christmas.

1. PRACTICAL SEATING FOR KIDS AND MESSY EATERS

Messy eaters, young and old, can cause some hosts a certain degree of anxiety when splashy condiments and dripping desserts make their way to the table on Christmas Day. Either equip everyone with napkins, cross your fingers and hope for the best, or eliminate the stress completely by investing in sturdy-yet-stylish, lightweight dining chairs that the kids can easily manoeuvre and, most importantly, can be wiped clean. French Cross dining chairs are incredibly trendy right now and tick each one of those boxes. You can find them in black, white and antique white for a French provincial look, as well as in oak and natural timber stains to complement classic or even country decorating styles.

2. EXCITING LIGHTING

It could be argued that a Christmas tree without any lights is hardly a Christmas tree at all. Impactful lighting sets the mood and can make a big difference, regardless of whether you’re decorating trees or your home. For an instant update, try hanging an industrial pendant light or two and notice how this simple switch can alter the feel of a space entirely. Even just putting a candle on the coffee makes a difference.

3. EXTENSION TABLES

For those who don’t regularly entertain a large crowd but could really use some extra space come Christmas time, an extension dining table will likely solve a lot of problems. Not only are extension dining tables affordable and relatively easy to find these days, they allow couples and small families to comfortably seat their guests on special occasions without having to compromise on elbow room!

4. ALL IS CALM, ALL IS WHITE

In colour psychology (yes, that is a thing), white is well known for its associations with clean slates and fresh starts. This makes it my go-to neutral for the dining room and anywhere around the home family and friends tend to gather. Think of it as a way to encourage your loved ones to leave their differences at the door and focus on enjoying each other’s company. After all, isn’t that what Christmas is all about?

At 1825 interiors, we have an abundance of white and ivory furniture which will do just the trick!
